Absence Makes the Heart...

The New Viking is out of town for the week. He left yesterday morning. I spent all day Sunday moping around his house, watching the three original "Star Wars" movies. (I had never seen "Return of the Jedi," and hadn't seen the other two since the early eighties. I didn't think that they held up particularly well.)

Today, despite several pressing work deadlines, I have managed to achieve next to nothing here in the office. I have been silently scolding myself for being a pussy; yes, I miss the NV, but my lethargy and helplessness really seemed out of proportion.

Then I put two and two together and realized that I had picked this morning to switch from coffee to green tea. I'm not sad or depressed...I am just going through withdrawal.

Two mugs of hot java and I'm feeling MUCH better.

Our Own Kind of Music

The New Viking and I are a few episodes behind on "Lost." Since the episode we needed to watch had cycled off his TiVo before we thought to save it, we watched it online from the ABC website. In that particular episode, focusing on Desmond, the song "Make Your Own Kind of Music" features prominently, and NV sang along with it whenever it came up. Now, I'm hopeless with lyrics, even for songs that I love, so when the episode was over, we googled the lyrics. Then I couldn't remember how the tune for the verse went, so we youtubed (is that a word yet?) a video for the song, and sang along with Mama Cass, twice in a row.

If I live to be a hundred, I'll never forget the sheer joy of that moment, singing along with my honey.

Sweaty Underwear Fetish

I usually go to the gym at lunchtime, and when I return I spread my damp gym gear out to dry on my gym bag, discreetly behind my desk and between me and the wall.

Today, when I got to the gym, I discovered that my gym underwear was missing. This was the second time that this has happened this year. Someone in my office is stealing my fucking sweaty underwear.

I just don't even know where to begin with this.
